“Our friend Adam Marsland, musician and intrepid explorer of Southeast Asia, has published another episode of his Beach Boys web series, Pet Squares. This one recounts “The Bruce Johnston Origin Story.” There’s a Jan Berry connection here. Through Jan, Bruce was in on the ground floor in the late 1950s—one of the architects of the California Sound, and highly accomplished in the music industry before joining the Beach Boys in 1965.
